Coreen Dutka is an educator who has taught in a variety of classrooms. In 2006, she began the Autism/Asperger’s Resource Room—the first of its kind in Saskatoon. This program continues to grow, and provide academic and social support for high school students on the Autism Spectrum. While the goal of the Resource Room is to ensure that students graduate from High School, an emphasis is placed on the students’ social thinking skills, self-regulation awareness, and life and work skills that are required in the work place. Coreen enjoys working with students in the areas of developing special interests, learning about social thinking on the job, and eventually be placed in volunteer job opportunities around the city.
